SLIP HEAD JIG / JIG

A snag-resistant, jointed rubber jig.

The Slip head Jig has excellent obstacle avoidance, even in rock-strewn bottoms, reefs, and tangled branches that may make you hesitate to use a jig. The head and hook are connected with a split ring, so it’s a jointed jig that gets bass hiding in cover to bite. The jointed design doesn’t affect the trailer. Even if the jig gets stuck, the head shape is very good at slipping through the cover. The recessed line tie allows it to come through the cover without damaging your knot and slowing you down to retie.

HEAD DESIGN & EYE

Slip_head_jig_deps_head

The low center of gravity head helps the jig avoid obstacles and ensures it doesn’t roll over. Even if it gets stuck, the head design allows it to step up over obstacles like it wasn’t even stuck. The two ribs on the bottom of the head also give you a better feel of the bottom and transmit to your rod exactly what is on the bottom.

The horizontal line tie also keeps the knot in a fixed position that prevents your knot from slipping and keeps a stable action from the jig.

JOINT & HOOK

#2/0 hook size: 1/8oz, 3/16oz

#3/0 hook size: 1/4oz, 3/8oz, 1/2oz, 5/8oz

The standard hook is the Gamakatsu LD Master, which has a large eye, allowing the soft plastic to move more freely and appeal to bass. This allows the bass to bite and not feel the jig as easily. The head is connected to the hook with a split ring, so if the hook gets dull or damaged or you are switching to a different soft plastic, you can easily swap out hooks.

SPLIT RING: #2

SLICK SKIRT

The skirt is cut shorter on the top, which creates more vibration as it sways with the water. The longer skirt on the hook side flares with the movement of the head and looks like the antennae or claws of a crawfish. The irregular shapes of the skirt add to the attraction and help get bites. The shorter section of the skirt also slows the bait’s fall and keeps it from gliding too far when fishing along the bottom. The longer skirt flare appeals to the fish with swaying movement and a more prominent profile.

*The 1/8oz jig skirt is a fine silicone rubber that is thinner than the other sizes.
